Friday, December 13 - San Francisco!

What a day! We adventured around the entire city of San Francisco!

In the morning we headed to Pier 39 and got to look at the famous sea lions. Although they needed a shower, they were awesome, loud, cute and rambunctious!

Then we walked along Fisherman's Wharf, made a stop at a famous bakery to sample sourdough bread...and then continued our day by taking a cable car across the city! This was awesome to get great views of this beautiful city!

We arrived in Union Square, a central area of downtown San Francisco and had time to enjoy the beautiful day, eat lunch, shop 'til you drop, and explore. Some of us had amazing cheesecake for lunch at Cheesecake Factory with a great view of the city.

In the afternoon we met our tour guide, who was really funny and an expert of all things San Francisco. She could also speak in a lot of different languages! We saw so many things around the city...like Lombard Street where we walked down the most crooked street in the world...the deYoung Art Museum...and Twin Peaks where we saw a great view of the entire city just in time for a beautiful sunset.

Last stop for the day was Chinatown, where we shared some great food and lots of laughter.

We headed back the hotel, but first had a hilarious dance party on the bus...complete with learning the noises animals make in each of our different countries.

We can't believe tomorrow is our last day, we love it here so much!

Thursday, December 12 - Road Trip to San Francisco, and Pier 39!

Today we were all pretty tired from our super full day at Disney yesterday, but that was ok because we got to sleep on the bus on our long road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco!  We passed the time by napping, of course, but also listening to music, reading, watching a few movies, and sharing stories about funny questions people in the U.S.A. have asked us about our countries, and singing the national anthems of our countries.  We also got to see some of the beautiful and varied landscapes of California.

For lunch, we stopped at a California classic fast-food joint, In-n-Out Burger.  They have the best burgers on the West Coast, and you can't get them anywhere else!

When we finally got to San Francisco, we went straight to Pier 39 for a delicious dinner at Bubba Gump restaurant.  We showed off our knowledge of the famous movie Forrest Gump with a game of trivia.  Then we got to explore the shops along the pier for a little while.

We're all pretty tired, but our new hotel has a game room, so we ended the night by playing pool and ping-pong before we go to bed to get ready for an exciting day exploring San Francisco tomorrow!

Wednesday, December 11 - Disneyland!!!!

Today we had a spectacular day at Disneyland!

We started this special day by singing Happy Birthday in all of our languages to Mariana from Brasil, who is celebrating her 16th birthday.

As soon as we arrived we just couldn't wait to explore! Seeing how big the two parks were...and how much detail there was...it was just amazing.

We started the day exploring the California Adventure park...and we got to ride everything!!!! Our two favorite rides were the Mickey Mouse roller coaster (which was fast, loopy, scary, and gave you that exhilarating feeling in your stomach!) and Hollywood Tower of Terror (which made you really believe you were at a haunted hotel in the 1930s)!

Next we headed to Disneyland where we had a break for lunch. Some of the highlights here...Splash Mountain, where we got really wet! Space Mountain, which was really cool as we flew through the stars...and we saw an awesome parade down Main Street, complete with Disney princesses!

Disneyland at night time is just magical! The restaurants and streets are all lit up and so beautiful, and at one point we stepped outside and it was snowing! Fake beautiful snow! A perfect moment.

The night only got more amazing with incredible fireworks over Sleeping Beauty's castle. It was breathtaking.

The day ended with an incredible, colorful, lights show on the water.  so special it's hard to describe. We didn't even want to take pictures because we wanted to have it only as a treasured memory.

All too quickly the parks closed and it was time to leave. We left with tired feet but happy hearts.

Tuesday, December 10 - Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica!

Awesome Day in Los Angeles!

We spent a lot of time (and money!) today in some cool places.  First, we went to Hollywood.  We visisted the Madame Tussaud's wax museum, and took a lot of cool pictures with very famous stars!  (Well, their wax versions).  We even danced with Beyonce and Darlene, our bus driver, to Single Ladies, and sang with Rihanna.  We saw Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, had a fake wedding with Nicolas Cage, and one student gave an Oscar acceptance speech.  Then we walked down the Walk of Fame and saw all the famous people's stars, including Mohammed Ali, whose star is on the wall, not the ground.  Even Godzilla and Shrek have a star!  We compared hand sizes with famous people in front of the Chinese Theater, and someone had the same size hands as Ron Weasley from Harry Potter.  There's lots of great shopping in Hollywood, and we bought a lot!

Next stop: Beverly Hills.  We all had lunch in nice cafes, and walked down Rodeo Drive to see where the rich people shop.  Lots of us bought cupcakes in the very popular dessert shop, Sprinkles.  When we were talking about it on the street, a Los Angeles woman walking by commented that she loves Sprinkles cupcakes.  So, we went to a place that the locals love!  There are lots of super expensive shops there, but also a Warner Bros shop with Bugs Bunny :o)

The last LA neighborhood that we visited was Santa Monica.  We had a nice time at the beach, where we played volleyball and soccer in the sand.  The water was pretty cold, but most of us at least put our feet in.  We took a lot of pictures of us jumping in the beautiful sunset.  Now a lot of us have sand in our hair and clothes.  We did some more shopping on the 3rd Avenue Promenade, with some more cool shops like the Disney shop, H&M, Lush, and more!  Then we had dinner at Buca di Beppo, a family-style "Italian"  place.  Our Italian student said it wasn't very authentic, but it was still delicious, especially the brownie we had for dessert.  We could walk through the kitchen of the restaurant and watch them cook.

Now we are all exhausted, and going to bed early to get ready for our full day at Disneyland tomorrow!

Monday, December 9 - Griffith Observatory and Universal Studios!

The first day of the California Adventure Trip

Today, We prepared to start discovering Los Angeles.

At first, we stopped at Griffith Park Observatory to get an amazing view of the famous Hollywood sign. We took a lot of pictures. We could see Los Angeles from a high point.

It was a perfect sunny day to go to Universal Studios! We didn't know what Universal Studios was, but we found out that it was amazing! We started with the haunted house, it was really really scary!!! We all screamed so hard and hugged each other. We went to a lot of rides like The Mummy or The Transformers. Also to the Jurassic Park, where we got super wet! Our favorite one was the Simpsons because the special effects were amazing!!

The studio tour was another amazing part of the day. W e had a tour of the behind the scenes lot. We saw some famous movie sets..like where the Grinch was filmed...and the homes of many television shows as well.

After the park closed we had time at the Universal City Walk to shop and see the bright lights...it was like the Times Square of California!

We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and it was such a cool atmosphere! After a great dinner and a bit more free time for last minute shopping, we headed back to the hotel...and everyone's so tired!

This day was so exciting and a great start to our California Adventure!!!

Oh, and extra bonus...everything looks extra beautiful here all decorated for Christmas!!!

Next stop...Hollywood!!! We are so excited!
